Each year since its foundation in 1989, KAMSA has organized a Youth Symphony Orchestra consisting of young Korean-American musicians. The orchestra holds its auditions in the spring and puts on its annual performance in the fall.
The annual Young Artist Competition gives young Korean-American musicians an opportunity to show their virtuosity to an appreciative audience. The winner may be invited to play with the Youth Symphony Orchestra at its annual concert.
KAMSA provides a showcase for outstanding Korean-American musical artists through West Coast debut recitals at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco.
The KAMSA Competition is held by the Korean-American Music Supporters’ Association and is open to young pre-college musicians in the following instrument and age categories:
Violin Junior – Ages 12 to 14 Senior – Ages 15 to 18
Viola Junior – Ages 12 to 14 Senior – Ages 15 to 18
Cello Junior – Ages 12 to 14 Senior – Ages 15 to 18
